Imaginary friends are really common among young children. Some experts say that imaginary friends are a sign of high intelligence, while others think the child may be manipulated by evil spirits. I will do some research and try to determine which ones I believe, and which is more logical.
This video tells me that some believe that imaginary friends could be a sign of a mental illness. Jani, the girl he is speaking of, suffers from schizophrenia. However, Dr. Breeding believes that Jani may be imagining this other world, and her imaginary friends as a way to seperate herself from things at home. I'm not saying that all children have imaginary friends for this purpose, but it makes me think that it could be possible.
